Founded in 2023, The Coaches Whiteboard was created to enhance the growth and development of the game amongst the soccer community. The organization will be formally launched in Fall 2024, presenting the Inaugural Kickin’ For Kids 4v4 Soccer Tournament. This event is being held to unite the local soccer community in an effort to help raise funds to fight Childhood Cancer. August 2024 will bring forward coaching and parent resources to round out the mission of the organization.

The Coaches Whiteboard Mission

  • Provide coaching resources to coaches of all levels

  • Enhance learning opportunities for all parents of children who play the game

  • Offer and execute events that “give back” to the community

Founder of The Coaches Whiteboard Doug Shank has been involved in coaching for over 30 years. During that time Coach Shank has served many roles and been afforded the opportunity to work with some of the most experienced and well respected coaches in the nation. The desire to “give back” has always been something he has fundamentally believed in and despite years of service to hundreds of players, coaches and parents, has chosen to now share those experiences on a more formalized platform called The Coaches Whiteboard.

Doug currently holds a USSF “A License”, an “Advanced National Diploma” from United Soccer Coaches Association (formerly NSCAA) and a “National Youth License” from US Youth Soccer. He regularly attends coaches workshops and seminars and believes that the “purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one”. Professionally Coach Shank has worked on all levels (youth, high school, college, semi-professional) and has lead his teams to multiple championships. He has been inducted into the Roxbury High School Hall of Fame and the Greensboro College Hall of Fame for leading his teams to unprecedented success and is known as being a “players coach”.

Coach Shank resides in Scottsdale, AZ and is married to wife Shannon and between them have 5 children (Shawn, Gracie, Sadie, Keegan and Dominic).
